ABOUT SHERIFF GUILLORY
Gary “Stitch” Guillory began his law enforcement career as a patrolman with the Westlake Police Department in 1983. During his 21-year career at Westlake Police Department, he was promoted to numerous positions, including Shift Sergeant, Detective, Captain, and Assistant Chief of Police. He also served as a Juvenile Officer, Firearms Instructor, and Dare Officer.
In 1997, Guillory was appointed interim Chief of Police in Westlake. The following year, he was elected Chief of Police by the citizens in Westlake, and in 2002, he was re-elected without opposition to serve another four years. In July 2004, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso selected Guillory to serve as his Chief Deputy, a post he held for 20 years before being elected Sheriff.
Guillory’s law enforcement career includes graduation from:
-LSU Basic Training Academy
-FBI National Academy
-LSU Juvenile Officers Institute
-DARE Instructor School
-POST Firearms Instructor School.
He has served as an instructor at the Calcasieu Parish Regional Training Academy for the past 20 years, where he continues to teach cultural diversity and firearms.
Guillory was appointed by the Governor of Louisiana to serve as chairman of the Crime Victims Board. He is also a member of the Crime Reparations Board, which pays expenses for crime victims.
Guillory has received numerous awards for distinguished service, including:
-D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year
-Law Enforcement Award by the West Calcasieu Branch of the NAACP for outstanding performance and dedication to the community,
-Law Enforcement of the Year Award by the North Lake Charles Kiwanis Club
Actively involved in the Calcasieu Community, Guillory previously served as a member of the Red Cross Advisory Board and the Family and Youth Advisory Board. He is currently serving on the Westlake Recreation Board and the Alliance to Fight Human Trafficking in SWLA Board. He also coached youth basketball, baseball, and softball teams for multiple years.
Stitch is married to Keesha Armstrong and they are proud parents of three children, Garrison and twins, Madison and Gabrielle.
